Flower Offering to the Buddha

Hans Georg Berger's Flower Ritual

I first saw Hans Berger’s work in a Gardens Illustrated Magazine, published in January 1998. The article was called “Silent Rituals” and contained some of his images of flower rituals in Buddhist monasteries in Laos. This is what Phra Meo, the Venerable Abbot, said about the proper flowers to offer the Buddha, “To cut a bloom is to destroy a living thing. The best flowers to offer are those that have not been picked at all but fall from the tree and are gathered before they reach the ground”.
